Terms of Service
The short version
- CMAT is a preliminary mission-analysis tool. Its numbers are model estimates, not certified predictions, and you remain the engineer of record for anything you build or fly.
- There is a free plan that does not expire and needs no card. It runs the orbital, decay and ground-station half of the tool, three analyses a day. The paid plans add the thermal and attitude results and let you export them.
- Your mission data is yours. We host it so the tool works; we don't sell it and we don't publish it.
- The software is ours: don't copy it, resell it, or reverse-engineer it. Your results are yours: publish them freely.
- Don't share your account, don't use CMAT for weapons work, and don't use it where a wrong number could hurt someone without checking it independently.
- Our liability is capped at what you paid us in the last 12 months. Jordanian law governs.
This summary is written for readability and is not part of the agreement. Where it differs from the numbered sections below, the numbered sections govern.
Who these Terms are with
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you ("you", the "User") and [operator: registered name] ("the Operator", "we", "us"), registered in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at [registered address & commercial registration no.], which operates the CubeSat Mission Analysis Tool ("CMAT", the "Service").
CMAT comprises the web application published at the address at which you are reading this, the analysis API that serves it, and any documentation, exports, reports and data the Service produces.
The CMAT software is the copyrighted work of Firas Jarrar and is operated by the Operator under licence. Your agreement for use of the Service is with the Operator.
Accepting these Terms
You accept these Terms by creating an account, signing in, or using the Service. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority where you live, and legally capable of entering into a contract. If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a university, research institute, company or other organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it, and "you" then means that organisation.
Where your organisation has signed a separate written agreement, purchase order or institutional licence with us, that document prevails over these Terms to the extent the two conflict.
Your account
- Accounts are personal and per-user. Credentials must not be shared, sold, or used concurrently by more than one person. Institutional plans are licensed by named seat or by verified e-mail domain, as agreed in the relevant order.
- You must give a valid e-mail address and keep it current, because it is how we reach you about your account, security matters and changes to these Terms.
- You are responsible for everything done under your account and for keeping your password secure. Tell us promptly at the address in section 24 if you suspect unauthorised access.
- Discounted academic and student pricing requires a current, verifiable affiliation with a recognised educational institution. We may ask for evidence and may reprice or suspend an account that no longer qualifies.
- We may refuse, or close, an account where the information given is false or the eligibility conditions of a plan are not met.
What CMAT is
CMAT performs preliminary mission analysis for CubeSats in low Earth orbit. Depending on the inputs you supply, it estimates orbital lifetime and decay, secular J2 drift, eclipse geometry, per-face solar, albedo and Earth-infrared flux, spacecraft temperature and available power, rigid-body attitude dynamics with environmental disturbance torques and magnetorquer or reaction-wheel control, ground tracks and ground-station pass geometry.
Parts of CMAT have been cross-validated against independent references, including NASA GMAT and SGP4 propagation of published flight elements, and the scope and results of that verification campaign are documented separately. Verification against a reference is not a certification, a qualification, or a warranty of fitness for any particular mission. It establishes agreement, within stated tolerances, on the specific cases that were tested.
CMAT is offered as a single tool at every paid tier: those plans differ in price and eligibility, not in the physics available to you. The free plan is the one exception: it includes a defined subset of the results, set out in section 6.1 and on the plans page. What it does include is computed by exactly the same models, at the same fidelity, as a paid run. There is no reduced engine.
Engineering disclaimer: read this one
CMAT produces model estimates, not measurements and not guarantees. Every result depends on the fidelity of the underlying models, on published environmental data that is itself uncertain (notably solar and geomagnetic activity), and above all on the inputs you provide. Small changes in ballistic coefficient, epoch, attitude or assumed atmosphere can change outputs such as orbital lifetime by a wide margin.
You must not rely on CMAT alone for: flight-critical or safety-of-life decisions; conjunction assessment or collision avoidance; re-entry casualty or debris-mitigation compliance; launch, deployment or disposal go/no-go decisions; regulatory, licensing, insurance or export filings; or final thermal, power or ADCS design sizing.
For those purposes, independently verify CMAT's outputs with qualified engineering judgement and, where required, with certified or authority-accepted tools and analyses. You are and remain the responsible engineer for your mission.
Results are labelled with the software version and engine build that produced them. Because the models are actively developed, a later version may produce different numbers for the same inputs; record the build stamp alongside any result you intend to rely on or cite.
Plans and fees
6.1 The free plan
Every account starts on the free plan. It does not expire, it needs no payment details, and there is no trial period to run out. It includes the full mission window, the orbital history, decay rate and reentry estimate, the ground track, one ground station with its pass table and contact timeline, and TLE import, at three analyses per day.
It does not include the thermal and power results, attitude modes other than fixed, attitude dynamics, additional ground stations, or the export of reports, data files and chart images. Those are part of the paid plans. The current division is published on the plans page, which forms part of these Terms.
One free account per person. Creating additional accounts to work around the daily limit or the excluded features is a breach of these Terms.
6.2 Paid plans
Paid plans are offered for individual, student, academic-institution and commercial use, and are sold by annual subscription. The plans available, their eligibility conditions, the unit each price is quoted in, and the prices themselves are those published or quoted at the time you subscribe, and those are the terms of your purchase.
Prices are quoted per user, per year, except the academic-institution licence, which is quoted per institution, per year within a stated seat band. Every published price states its unit.
6.3 Fees, currency and taxes
- Subscription fees are billed in advance for the subscription term, are quoted in the currency shown at checkout, and are exclusive of taxes unless stated otherwise.
- You are responsible for any VAT, sales tax, withholding or duty applicable in your jurisdiction. Where we are required to collect a tax, it is added at checkout.
- Institutional and commercial customers may be invoiced against a purchase order; unless the order says otherwise, invoices are payable within 30 days of issue.
- Card payments are processed by our payment provider. We do not receive or store your full card details.
- We may change prices for future terms. Any change is notified at least 30 days before it takes effect and never applies to a term you have already paid for.
If payment fails or an invoice is materially overdue, we may suspend access under section 17 after giving you notice and a reasonable opportunity to fix it.
Renewal, cancellation and refunds
- Subscriptions renew automatically for successive terms of the same length unless cancelled before the end of the current term.
- You may cancel at any time, from your account or by writing to us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the term already paid for; you keep access until then, after which the account returns to the free plan. Your saved missions are not deleted.
- Because the free plan lets you evaluate the Service on your own mission, for as long as you like, before paying, fees already paid are non-refundable except where refused by law, where a separate written agreement says otherwise, or where we cancel your subscription for a reason other than your breach, in which case we refund the unused portion of the term on a pro-rata basis.
- Statutory consumer withdrawal or cancellation rights, where they apply to you, are unaffected by this section.
Our Refund & Cancellation Policy sets out how to cancel, the cases in which we do refund, plan changes, invoicing and the timescales we work to. It forms part of these Terms; where the two conflict, this section governs.
Fair use and service limits
CMAT runs real numerical propagation on shared computing capacity. To keep it responsive and affordable for everyone, the Service applies a daily cap per user, which depends on the plan: currently three analyses per day on the free plan and 100 per day on every paid plan. The current figures are published on the plans page. Limits may be adjusted; where a change would materially reduce what your plan allows, we will tell you first.
The API exists to serve the CMAT interface. You may not call it from your own software, automate or script analyses in bulk, or resell, sublicense or otherwise pass on access to the compute, without our prior written agreement.
Acceptable use
You agree not to, and not to permit anyone else to:
- copy, modify, translate, publish, distribute, sublicense, sell or lease any part of the Service or its software;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the Service, or attempt to derive its source code, models or algorithms, except to the extent that restriction is void under applicable law;
- use the Service, or any output, benchmark or model behaviour derived from it, to build or train a competing product or service;
- circumvent, disable or test the authentication, entitlement, rate-limiting or security controls of the Service, or access data that is not yours;
- scrape, crawl or bulk-extract the Service, or introduce malicious code into it;
- remove, obscure or alter any copyright, build-stamp, attribution or other proprietary notice, including in exported reports and files;
- share, resell or make available account credentials, or exceed the seats licensed to your organisation;
- use the Service unlawfully, or in breach of section 15.
Our intellectual property
The Service, its software, interface, physics models, verification material, documentation and branding are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property rights and remain the property of Firas Jarrar. Copyright in the CMAT software: © 2026 Firas Jarrar. All rights reserved.
Subject to these Terms and to payment of the applicable fees, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to access and use the Service for your own mission-analysis work for the duration of your subscription. No other right or licence is granted, expressly or by implication.
If you send us feedback, bug reports or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without obligation or compensation to you. This does not give us any right to your mission data.
Your mission data
You own the inputs you enter and the results generated for you (together, your "Mission Data"). We claim no ownership of it.
You grant us a limited licence to host, store, transmit, process and display your Mission Data solely to operate the Service for you, to keep it secure, to provide support at your request, and to comply with law. Saved missions are stored under your account and are visible only to you; row-level access controls enforce this at the database.
We may generate and use aggregated, de-identified statistics about how the Service is used (for example, error rates, run counts and feature usage) to operate and improve CMAT. Such statistics never identify you and never contain your mission parameters or results.
You are responsible for the lawfulness of what you upload and for holding any rights or clearances needed for it. Do not enter data you are not permitted to place on a service hosted outside your own organisation. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose; the Service's export functions exist for that purpose.
How we handle personal data (such as your e-mail address) is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
Using results in your work
You may use CMAT's outputs (figures, tables, exported reports and derived numbers) freely in your own design documents, proposals, theses, dissertations and publications, subject to section 5.
Where results are published or submitted for review, we ask that you cite the tool and the build stamp shown on the export, for example: "CMAT (CubeSat Mission Analysis Tool), version and build as stamped."
Nothing in the Service implies that the Operator or Firas Jarrar has reviewed, endorses or takes responsibility for your analysis, design or conclusions, and you must not represent otherwise.
Availability, support and changes to the Service
- We aim to keep CMAT available and correct, but the Service is provided on a commercially reasonable-efforts basis and without a guaranteed uptime level unless a separate written agreement provides one.
- We may perform maintenance, and may occasionally suspend the Service to protect its security or integrity. We will give notice where it is practical to do so.
- We develop CMAT continuously and may add, change or remove features and models. We will not materially reduce the core analysis capability of a plan during a term you have paid for without offering you a pro-rata refund of the unused portion.
- Features marked beta, preview or similar are provided for evaluation, may change or be withdrawn, and are excluded from any commitment in these Terms.
- Support is provided by e-mail at the address in section 24, during normal business hours in Jordan, on a reasonable-efforts basis.
Hosting and where your data is held
CMAT is delivered using infrastructure providers engaged by us, who host the application, run the analysis and store account records and saved missions, and who process that data on our behalf as sub-processors under our instructions. Payment processing is likewise handled by a specialist provider.
That infrastructure operates outside Jordan, so using the Service involves international transfer and storage of your account data and Mission Data. By using the Service you consent to that transfer. We select providers we consider to apply appropriate security measures, and we remain responsible to you for the Service as a whole; we are not responsible for the independent acts of those providers, or for content on any external site the Service links to.
What each of them holds, and for how long, is set out in our Privacy Policy; the identity of our current providers is available on request.
Export control, sanctions and prohibited applications
Space-related analysis software can be subject to export-control and sanctions regimes. You represent, warrant and undertake that:
- you are not located in, ordinarily resident in, or acting on behalf of a person in, a country or territory subject to comprehensive sanctions, and you are not a person designated on an applicable sanctions or denied-party list;
- you will comply with all export-control, sanctions and space-activity laws applicable to you and to your use of the Service and its outputs;
- you will not use the Service, or any output of it, in connection with the design, development, production or delivery of weapons, missiles or other munitions, or for any military application prohibited by applicable law.
We may suspend or terminate access immediately, without refund, where we reasonably believe this section has been breached.
Confidentiality
Each party may receive non-public information from the other: for you, that includes your Mission Data; for us, it includes non-public aspects of the Service, its models and any pricing quoted to you outside published rates. Each party will use the other's confidential information only to perform this agreement, will protect it with at least reasonable care, and will not disclose it except to personnel and providers who need it and are bound by equivalent obligations, or where disclosure is required by law.
This obligation does not apply to information that is or becomes public without breach, was already lawfully known, or is independently developed without use of the other party's information.
Suspension and termination
- By you: cancel at any time under section 7, or ask us to delete your account.
- By us for cause: we may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where practical, if you materially breach these Terms (including sections 8, 9 and 15), if fees are materially overdue, or if your use threatens the security, integrity or lawful operation of the Service.
- By us for convenience: we may discontinue the Service or your plan on 30 days' notice, refunding the unused portion of any term you have paid for.
- On termination: your right to use the Service ends immediately. We will keep your Mission Data available for export for 30 days after termination, unless the termination was for a breach of section 15 or applicable law requires otherwise, and will then delete it in the ordinary course, subject to backups that expire on their normal cycle and to records we must retain by law.
- Sections 5, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, and 18 to 23 survive termination.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we disclaim all warranties, conditions and representations of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
Without limiting section 5, we do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that any result, estimate or prediction it produces will be accurate, complete, or match the behaviour of a real spacecraft.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- Neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill, anticipated savings or data, however caused.
- Without limiting the generality of that, we are not liable for loss of, or damage to, a spacecraft, payload or launch opportunity; for mission failure or degradation; for launch, integration or campaign delay; for the cost of redesign, re-analysis or re-qualification; or for any regulatory, contractual or reputational consequence arising from reliance on the Service or its outputs.
- Our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms and the Service, on any basis, is limited to the total fees you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or USD 100 if you have paid nothing.
You acknowledge that the fees for the Service reflect this allocation of risk, and that the Service would not be offered at these prices without it.
Indemnity
You will indemnify and hold harmless the Operator, Firas Jarrar and their personnel against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost and reasonable legal expense brought by a third party and arising out of: your use of the Service or of its outputs; your Mission Data; your breach of these Terms or of section 15; or your infringement of a third party's rights. We will notify you promptly of any such claim and give you reasonable cooperation in dealing with it.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service and the law develop. The version in force is always the one published at this address, with its version number and effective date at the top.
For material changes, those that meaningfully reduce your rights or increase your obligations, we will give you at least 30 days' notice by e-mail to your account address or by a prominent in-app notice before they take effect. Non-material changes (clarifications, corrections, updates to the provider list in section 14) take effect on publication.
Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, cancel before the effective date; where the change is material and you cancel because of it, we refund the unused portion of your current term.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter (including non-contractual disputes), are governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Before starting proceedings, the parties will try in good faith to resolve the dispute by discussion, beginning with written notice to the other party describing the issue and the outcome sought, and allowing 30 days to resolve it.
Failing that, the competent courts of Amman, Jordan have exclusive jurisdiction, and both parties submit to it. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions, or of the jurisdiction of the courts, of the country where you live.
General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Refund & Cancellation Policy and any order form or written agreement referring to them, are the whole agreement between us about the Service and replace any earlier understanding on that subject.
- Severability. If a provision is found unenforceable, it is modified to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable, or severed; the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a provision on one occasion is not a waiver of it.
- Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a merger, reorganisation or sale of the business operating CMAT, on notice to you.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for a delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including infrastructure, network or upstream-provider failures.
- Notices. We give notice to the e-mail address on your account or in the application; you give notice to the address in section 24. Notice is treated as received on the next business day after sending.
- No agency. Nothing here creates a partnership, joint venture, employment or agency relationship.
- Language. These Terms are made in English. Any translation is provided for convenience only, and the English text governs.
